Training Program on Increasing the Efficiency and the Effectiveness of the Agricultural Extension System

Hector Kobbekadduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Agriculture (Northern Province), Extension and Training Centre, Department of Agriculture, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna organized the training program for the extension officers in the Northern Province. The training program was conducted for the extension officers from Jaffna and Kilinochchi districts at the District Agriculture Training Centre (DATC), Thirunelvely, Jaffna on 12th and 13th of January 2023 while the training program for the extension officers from Mullaitivu, Mannar and Vavuniya districts was conducted at the District Agriculture Training Centre (DATC), Vaddakachchci, Kilinochchi on 26th and 27th of January 2023. Staff and students of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna invented a new drinking yoghurt incorporated with Bael fruit syrup. License for producing this yoghurt was given to Mullai milk processing industry, Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka. The newly developed yoghurt was launched for commercialization through University business linkage, University of Jaffna at Kailasapathy auditorium on 12th September 2022.
