Certificate awarding ceremony of the above courses was held on 11.04 2023 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ariviyal Nagar, University of Jaffna. The proposed biogas system for the University of Jaffna was commissioned on 15th March 2023 in the livestock farm unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kilinochchi Premises, University of Jaffna. Deans and staff of the Faculties of Agriculture, and Engineering; Works engineer/ Kilinochchi premises and his staff; UNDP officials and officials from the biogas digester construction company participated in this ceremony. The construction work of the UNDP funded biogas system commenced on 1st of December 2022 under the renewable energy project. The capacity of the biogas digester is 35 cubic meters and it can produce 14 cubic meters of biogas at its full capacity. The emitted biogas is collected in a storage tank and it can be connected to a generator to produce electricity and also can be connected to a gas cooker for heating purpose. The digested waste material collected after the biogas generation can be used as enriched organic fertilizer..

Miss.Kalaivizhi Varathanathan (2018/AG/099) a final year student of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna was selected as one of the ten members from Sri Lanka to visit Japan under Japan - SAARC Exchange program – JENESYS 2022 organized by JICE (Japan International Cooperation Center). The team comprises one working person (Principal, Visaka College, Colombo), 5 Faculty of Agriculture students from Universities (Jaffna, Peradeniya, Rajarata, Ruhuna, and Uwawellasa) and 4 high school students ( 2 from Visaka college, one each from Ananda college, and Mahinda college).  The period of the visit is  1st Feb 2023 – 7th Feb 2023. Main aim of this program is to exchange the students from South Asian countries with Japan and disseminate the culture, history, tradition, technology, and important productions with these countries and maintain a good relationship with these countries. In 2016, Government of Sri Lanka and Government of Japan entered into Grant Agreement to implement “The Project for the Establishment of Research and Training Complex at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna”. The project included the construction of a laboratory building and a training building, the development of university farm, and the preparing experimental manuals as a soft component. The project was completed in 2021. In 2021, the Government of Sri Lanka requested to the Government of Japan for a new technical cooperation project to strengthen the university's education and research infrastructure and university management, while continuing to utilize the facilities and equipment provided in the grant project. This technical cooperation project is expected to enhance the quality of education and research at the Faculty of Agriculture and to contribute to the human resource development that will help improve..
