Research and Training Complex and Farm Management Building
The Research and Training Complex and Farm Management Building with advanced facilities were established with the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a Grant Aid program. The Grant Agreement, which was worth1.6 billion Japanese Yen (about Rs. 2.2 billion), was signed in May 2016. Well-designed laboratories were built at each department such as Crop Science Laboratory Animal Nutrition Lab, Reproductive Physiology Lab, Plant Protection and bio control Lab, Biotechnology and Tissue Culture Lab, Soil testing and bio fertilizer lab, Food Analysis and Processing Lab, Environment and Hydro Lab and Econometrics lab. Processing units for meat, milk and food, Farm Management Building, Farms, Animal farm units and Farm machinery workshop established under this grant were the greatest addition to the Faculty of Agriculture. The Research and Training Complex and Farm Management Building were established for strengthening practical skills of students and conducting quality research to solve the problems faced by the farming community and industrialists and disseminating the findings to the stakeholders.
CEREMONIAL OPENING OF THE RESEARCH AND TRAINING COMPLEX
Ceremonial Opening of the Research and Training Complex donated by the Government of Japan for Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna was held on 05.02.2021. Vice Chancellor Prof.Srisatkunarajah invited the Education Minister Honorable Prof.G.L.Peris and His Excellency Ambassador Akira Sugiyama, Japan to Sri Lanka in presence of Honorable Minister Douglas Devananda and Senior Prof. Kapila C.K.Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, the Chairman Senior Prof.Sampath Amaratunge, University Grants Commission and Honorable Angajan Ramanathan, Deputy Chairman of Committee of the Parliament
