Outreach Activities
Extension/Outreach activities through media and others:
- Freelance writer of science articles (about environment, agriculture and agro-technology) in local daily newspapers – Valampuri, Thinakkural, Thinamurasu, Thamilthanthi and Uthayan to disseminate information (in Tamil) to the public especially farmers and students from 2005-2017. Writing of series of articles on “Towards Another Green Revolution’ is being continued in Valampuri on every Saturdays and Wednesdays till to date. Some of the articles are uploaded in the website nanilam.com under agriculture section.
- Written science articles in many magazines and School magazines to disseminate science
- Resource person for various training programs in pest management, Vermiculture and composting, Home Gardening, Growing medicinal plants, Mushroom cultivation and on Capacity building programs of University staff etc.
- Aired Yarl FM program ‘Pasumaiyin Nerum means The time for Green” with students to disseminate agricultural information to the public especially farmers – 2012.
- Resource person for various discussions aired in Yarl FM, Radio-Ceylon, DAN TV to disseminate knowledge to public/farming groups.
