The Faculty of Agriculture organized 2nd late Prof. Somasundaram Kandiah memorial lecture-2023 to commemorate and appreciate its 1st dean’s services on 22nd of Sep 2023 at the main auditorium faculty of Agriculture, Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi from 10.30 am-11.35 am with the financial support of late Prof. Somasundaram Kandiah memorial lecture. This year, with the JICA-PRECIDA’s support Japanese eminent scientist Dr. Koki TOYOTA from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology delivered the memorial lecture under the title of “Approach to sustainable soil use to feed a growing world population”. Around 200 participants (Son and grandson of late professor S.Kandiah, JICA delegates, academia, alumina members, students and staff of faculty of Agriculture) attended the memorial lecture.
The memorial lecture started with the official procession from the Infront of the faculty of Agriculture towards main auditorium of the faculty of Agriculture. Memorial lecture officially commenced after the lighting oil lamb. As per the schedule, acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. Kannathasan read the VC’ Message and introduced the speaker. Then the speaker Dr. Koki TOYOTA delivered his valuable and timely needed talk. The talk was very informative.

Then, the speaker was felicitated presenting a memento by the acting Vice-Chancellor and the dean faculty of Agriculture. Finally, the dean faculty of Agriculture, Prof. S. Vasanatharuba delivered his formal vote of thanks. The memorial lecture session was officially closed at 11.35 am.
