The "Empowering Kilinochchi Agriculture" project is a holistic endeavor initiated by The Outreach Committee of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, and the Rotary Club of Kilinochchi District. The project's primary aim is to elevate the productivity and income of farmers in the Kilinochchi district of Sri Lanka, thereby enhancing the development of the region's agricultural sector.  To ensure the sustainability and inclusivity of this initiative, a workshop titled "Problem Tree Analysis to Uplift Grain Production, Marketing and Value Addition in Kilinochchi District" was jointly organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, and the Rotary Club of Kilinochchi on October 17, 2023, at Auditorium, Faulty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna. The Northern Provincial Council organized an exhibition on “Entrepreneurial School Garden” at Mallavi Central College, Mullaitivu with the coordination of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The exhibition aimed to promote the concept of school gardens with modernized agricultural practices, technology, awareness of food-based dietary patterns and consumption of millet food, preparation of a digital platform for school gardens, and other subjects based on agriculture promotion among school children and youth farmers. The event was held on 10th     and 11th of October 2023 at the school premises and was open to school students all over the Northern Province. Faculty of Agriculture also participated in the exhibition. Departments of Agronomy, Animal Science, Agricultural Biology, Agricultural Chemistry, and Agricultural Engineering contributed to the exhibition by showcasing their exhibits and demonstrations to the audience..

The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna has successfully hosted the orientation programme 2021/2022 for the new students who registered for Bachelors of Science (Hons) in Agriculture from 11th September to 15th September 2023. The orientation programme began with an inaugural ceremony with in-person participants at 9 am on 11th September 2023 at the Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi. H.E. MIZUKOSHI Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka and the officials from Embassy of Japan visited Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna at Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi on 11th of August 2023 to oversee JICA’s PRECIDA-UOJ Project. The ambassador and his team were welcomed by the Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, Dean and the academic staff of the Faculty of Agriculture.
