31st batch students of the Faculty of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agriculture Students Union organized an exciting Short Film “வலி/Vali” Releasing Festival on 08th of May 2023 at 1.00 P.M at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Agriculture to showcase and celebrate their film making skills and creativity and foster a sense of community engagement and collaboration. The welcome activities successfully established a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the occasion. The welcome address and the cultural welcome dance set a positive tone, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among the distinguished guests and the audience. Professor. S. Srisatkunarajah, Vice-chancellor of University of Jaffna graced the occasion as the chief guest. The attendance of esteemed guests attracted a diverse audience, including the Dean/Faculty of Agriculture, professors, heads of the departments, senior lecturers, lecturers, demonstrators, students, parents, nonacademic staff, industry professionals, and well-wishers of the wider community. This diverse audience enhanced the festival experience by fostering engaging conversations, networking opportunities, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The appreciation and encouragement of the guests created a sense of honor and value for the students for their presence at the occasion. The hard work of ‘’Vali’’ was paid off in this historical short film which was budded from the young talents of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna. The film expresses that the war scars remain in the affected people’s lives, and they are looking for coping strategies to rebuild their lives with humanity and peace. Eventually, the film festival was concluded with a vote of thanks at 3.30 P.M successfully.
