Inaugural ceremony of the above course was held on 20.10.2022. This occasion was graced by Dr.S. Vasantharuba, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. S. Gowrythilakan, Deputy Director, Department of Animal Production and Health, Kilinochchi district, Dr.S. Kajaranjan, Veterinary surgeon, Karachchi, Veterinary range, Heads of Department, Professors, enrolled participants and other distinguished guests and students. Dr.S.Vasantharuba, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna and Prof (Miss) J.Sinniah, Certificate course coordinator and Head, Department of Animal Science addressed to the gathering. In their address they highlighted the importance, objectives and intended learning outcomes of the course and the date of commencement (29.10.22) and expected date of completion (five weeks from the commencement of the course). Followed by self – introduction of enrolled participants. Coordinator Prof (Miss) J. Sinniah apologized for the delay in commencement of the course due to Covid pandemic, transport difficulties and some other unexpected causes. She further acknowledged the sponsorship for 18 students by an NGO, Sri Lanka Centre for Development Facilitation and the officers of the NGO namely, Mr.T.L. Wijethunga, Executive Director, MS Dushi. Balasignam, Programme manager and Mr.K. Kularuban, Senior programme officer. Rest of the 14 students enrolled through self – financing. As the final event vote of thanks was proposed by Dr (Mrs) S. Piratheepan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Animal Science, University of Jaffna.
