Workshopon “Providing technical support to the students to write project proposals in order to get the financial support from local and international funding agencies”
Under the AHEAD programme (AHEAD/RA2/ELTAELSE/JFN/FAG/OVAA 16), the faculty of Agriculture organized a workshop on ” “Providing technical support to the students to write project proposals in order to get the financial support from local and international funding agencies” on 02nd of December 2022 at the main auditorium of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi from 8.00 am-16.15 pm with the financial support of AHEAD/RA2/ELTAELSE/JFN/FAG/OVAA 16. The Mr. Kodeeswaran Rushangan, Founder/CEO, SIKARAM ACADEMY and Mr. Mariampillai Selvin Ireneuss, Ex.SLAS Officer were served as the resource persons. Around 105 participants (Students of the faculty of Agriculture and the staff) attended the workshop.
The workshop was commenced at 8.55 am immediately after the registration of the participants. At the beginning, an opening remarks was delivered by Dr. K.Pakeerathan on the importance of writing proposals for winning grants and the importance of career development followed by the introductory talk by the Dr. S. J. Arasakesary/Career Guidance /Coordinator/Faculty of Agriculture. Few senior staff members and Heads were at the inauguration
First session was moderated by Mr. Mariampillai Selvin Ireneuss on the subject of writing project proposals for winning grants. He has referred a long list of educational materials and given an excellent opened up session on projects, kinds and writing aspects. He divided the participants in to four groups equally and had a group activity on the basic aspects on winning proposal. He has quoted many proposals and given an excellent motivational brain storming. After the group activities the facts finding of Individual groups were presented to the forum by the selected leaders of each group. The facts finding has revealed that the participants had enough ignition for project proposal writings. The resource has shared the following materials to the students. (attached). During this session the participants were provided with refreshment sand launch.
The second topic was covered by Mr. K. Rushangan at afternoon on career development and the opportunities for entrepreneurship development. He has given ample examples to be a prosperous entrepreneur in future based on the knowledge gathered during the past at the FOA. He also explored the possibilities to be entrepreneur form the recent budget proposal. Participants were highly enthusiastic and ignited to be as a potential entrepreneur after the completions of the course.
At the end of the workshop participants gave the feed-back as summary. Key points of the feed backs are

- They are very clear on career development opportunities available around the globe
- They will apply new skills learned to sort out the currently facing technical problems.
