A workshop titled “Redesigning Curriculum of BSc.(Hons) in Agriculture” was organized on January 17th 2021 (Sunday) from 8.20 am to 04.40 pm in the computer unit of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi in relation with the Activity one of the ELTA-ELSE faculty level project. The aim of this workshop includes identify strength and weakness of the existing curriculum of the faculty, provide an overall view about the development of better Graduate Attributes and Graduate Profiles for the new curriculum, create an understanding about the effective writing of short and precise programme learning outcome (PLOs) representing entire course ILOs and mapping the courses to align with SLQF guidelines.
Two eminent curriculum experts Senior Professor. Udith K. Jayasinghe-Mudalige, Vice-chancellor, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka and Emeritus Professor. E.R. Kalyani Perera, Actg. Director of the QAC of the UGC, Sri Lanka were served as resource persons virtually. About 55 academic staff members of Faculty of Agriculture were participated in person (50) and virtually (5). The workshop was commenced with the opening remarks and welcome address by the Dr. K. Sooriyakumar, Dean and the chairperson curriculum revision committee of the faculty. The entire sessions were interactive and well attended by the staff members. Several national and international universities curriculums were taken for discussion, and compared by the resources persons to point out and address the strength, weakness and gaps need to be filled while revising the existing curriculum. Finally, objective and scope of the workshop was achieved, resource persons appreciated the participant’s full engagement and enthusiasm to attend the workshop, and clarify the doubts, respectively. In the feed-back, participants requested to arrange a follow up workshop with the fully revised curriculum. The workshop was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. S.
